PROGRAMME SYNOPSIS

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Schools (public and non-public) and school districts face a myriad of challenging hazards and threats. In addition to natural hazards, technological hazards, and biological hazards, they now have to prepare for human-caused cyber threats. These incidents can be accidental or deliberate and disrupt education and critical operations; expose sensitive personally identifiable information (PII) of students, teachers, and staff; and lead to high recovery costs.

Cyber security should be high on the agenda for any school with a reliance on IT and online systems. Across the world, children are at risk from violence, abuse, exploitation, and neglect. Commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking, child labour, and child marriage are problems in many countries are being exacerbated by the rapid consumerisation of IT and related services in Post-COVID 19 learning environments.  At-risk children and adolescents need their rights enforced if we are to protect them from harm and to ensure that they develop to their full potential, hence the need to capacitate frontline staff in education on how to deal with cyber incidents affecting the students

Education institutions need to make cybersecurity a priority. Despite the sector facing major challenges such as a lack of staffing and a lack of funding and resources, cyber-attacks are no less frequent or less severe in education.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]
